Celebrity Justice
Pennington Speaks After DUI Bust

Ty PennningtonTMZ broke the story that Ty Pennington was arrested Saturday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Pennington has just issued the following statement:

"I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."

91. I do NOT condone DUI in any way (in fact I am not a drinker at all).....but many people make mistakes as nobody is perfect in this life. Just wondering how many of you finger pointers have had a drink or two and gotten behind the wheel? How many of you have been DUI but have NOT YET gotten caught? I'm sure it is a sobering number. Thank the Lord you and your intended victims were lucky! That time! So unless you have NEVER gotten behind a wheel after a drink stop your preaching.

Let Ty face the courts and serve his sentence with some dignity. Even though he is a celebrity, he is human too!

And yes, I have lost a relative in a drunk driver accident so I DO know how it feels! Humans make mistakes!

93. TY TY, LOVE the show. But I could read you in everyone of them,, This is just the one time you got caught and you and your lawyers knew what you had to do....to me on the show.
You are such a fake, Unlike the rest of the crew. It really comes from their Heart what they do for these people. I hope you get more than a slap on the wrist. And i hope you don't get to yell
anymore on TV. You're to wired up to be building houses and helping people.
Next time get a Taxi. Glad you didn't kill anybody.

96. I really hope Ty has learned from this. I am a victim of a drunk driver. I will never be free from pain and never have a normal life due to the injuries from the accident. Everyone needs to know this can happen to them in a split second. No one is above the law and should be accountable for their actions.

99. I am DEFINATELY a bigger fan of Ty's than Paris' , but it is absolutely REDICULOUS that the majority of the comments on here are all about sweet Ty, "I'm praying for you", "Keep your chin up" "Way to go for saying sorry" etc etc. Yet most people think Paris Hilton should pretty much go to death row for what she did. Wake up people! For God's sake, just because Ty builds a house for some needy family every week DOES NOT make what he did OK just because he feels bad about it. There isn't a bit of difference between what he did and Paris did besides her violating her probation. I love Ty and will continue to watch his show, but I hope he gets what he deserves. DUI is DUI no matter who is doing it.

102. I'm sorry, but due to the nature of the television show, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, that Ty Pennington hosts', I hold him to a higher standard than the likes of Paris Hilton, Lohan, Hasselhoff, etc..
I also love Ty to death, for what he contributes to the show, and the people he comes in contact with.
That being said, I'm sorry Ty, but you DID jeopardize peoples lives with your Drunk Driving. It wasn't a matter of ," I could've", YOU DID.!!
If ABC chooses to remove you from your hosting duties on this show, I would be saddened remarkably. However, I would completely understand their decision.
Now, because of an err in YOUR judgement, their sponsorship companies may pull out, and how do you host a show like this one, with a DUI conviction under your belt?
Finding this out has just crushed me, as I had you and your show listed on my ,' Positive Influences In My Life.' side.
Now, you have just ran to the other side of Hollywood, the 'rotten ' one.
I'm so sad. Get help Ty. Do more than just go for help. Find a way that YOU CAN GIVE BACK, and a way that we can forget what happened to you.

103. I am glad to see that Ty is willing to stand up and say he was wrong. Let's hope he did learn his lesson and how fortunate he was only to get a DUI. It could have been much worse, had anyone been injured or killed in an accident.

The problem in Paris Hilton's case is there seems to be no sense of responsiblity regarding her actions. Her mother, who had gained my respect in the past, really disappointed me in her response to her daughter's behaviior. The hardest thing one has to do as a parent is to make our children responsible for their own choices and the consequences of those actions. In this case, Paris was given not one, but two chances to follow the instructions of the court. She chose not to follow those instructions. She should just thank her lucky stars she hasn't killed anyone yet as I don't think her DUI was her first. It was most likely just the first time she was caught. Does she realize you can go to prison for years if you have a DUI in California and cause great bodily harm? I do because I worked for the CA Dept of Corrections and saw several inmates incarcerated for this and this alone.

Take responsibility and do your time, Paris. As for Kathy Hilton, get a backbone and teach your children some social responsibility!!!!
