Pennington Speaks After DUI Bust

Ty PennningtonTMZ broke the story that Ty Pennington was arrested Saturday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Pennington has just issued the following statement:

"I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."

181. I wonder how many of you who are pointing fingers have ever had a "drink or two" and then gotten in your car to drive away.

Ty made a mistake, he owned up to it, which is admirable. Yes, he's probably driven drunk before as he referred to this as "his wake up call."

Do I think he needs to be punished? Absolutely. Do I think what he did was unforgiveable? Absolutely not. Like he said we all make mistakes.

Just for informational purposes--I don't drink at all, so I haven't driven a car after having "a drink or two."

182. I have read all the post's from all the various blog's about Ty Pennington's misfortune, and the fortune involving his recent DUI. In my state in which I reside, we have a point 08 alcohol tolerance level. Though I do not condone drinking, and driving, I know that if only a mere smell of alcohol is on ones breathe, they are going to be arrested for the same charge with using the arresting officer's discretion, and provided test's given to the individual that has been pulled over for this offense. If his alcohol level was a point 14 as I understand it was, he was still under the influence while driving, which he, or no one should do.
I do not feel that Ty Pennington feels he is above the law, and neither do I. But, I do feel he will face whatever legally be given to him for I believe he is there is a good spirit in this man that many just seem to want to crucify for this incident, as well as many other issue's that many of us have no knowledge of. I have read the most horrendous post's that really tell me that we live in a country with a lot of people that are just plain miserable with our own live's, and so we always tend to kick 'em when they're down, rather than help them back up. Yes, I admire his gift's, and talent's as well as all those on EHME, and I'm not kissing up to anyone regarding this challenge that many people have done, and still do.
I am not all that pleased with all the road rage I see everyday on our highway's, and even on the smaller road's, and frankly many of them haven't yet had their first sip, and decided to bypass Happy Hour, yet they too are freakin' dangerous, scary, and have horrible potty mouth's as they cut you right off, and scream the dirty's to you as they just don't care. BTW, I would also like to mention since it has been put on the blog's about possible drug involvement with this issue, how amny of you take prescription drug's, and drive?Oh my goodness, read the label's slapped on your script bottle's people! Tell your boss you can't make it in because it may take a few week's for that particular medication, or medication's to adjust in your system before you drive a vehicle, or operate various type's of heavy, or any machinery. Good God, a lot of folk's would be taking some time off from work I would say if all abided by this, as well as the restriction's that also apply to those in regard to alcohol. I do care for the innocent that have had a loss, or someone they love, or know that has been killed, or maimed for life from poor jugement with alcohol, and poor jugement thereof, but still I have faith that we all can contribute more to these issue's in a much cohesive way rather than really showing ignorance as some of these post's deplict.
You are in my prayer's Ty, as well as the many other's that have yet to step up to the plate for their action's, or lack of.
Don't miss any more cue's Ty, they have to be taken, and the show must go on I do hope with you on it when you have put his to rest, and take what is now ordered for you.
Always, An IATSE daughter, sister,
and no longer the enabling bartender that saw the light many year's ago.

183. His court date is June 4th...he will have to answer to the court at that time, but his situation DOES differ from that of Paris Hilton...

- Ty got caught, is owning up to his poor choices, and will (probably) do whatever the court tells him to do on June 4th

- Paris:
1) got caught
2) had her license suspended
3) got caught driving w/ a suspended license, but was let go w/ a warning
4) got caught driving w/ a suspended license a SECOND time
5) was late to her own court hearing

Does Ty deserve to pay for his actions...YES! Anyone who drives while under the influence should be made to pay accordingly. Paris deserves to go to jail...she cannot keep turfing her personal resposibilities off on her publicist in hopes he'll take the heat. Paris, grow up and take control of your own life. Ty (and Paris)...next time, call a cab.

184. Ty you have done so much good for Americans who were down on their luck. How can any of us turn our backs on you now. I still go by the memorial you built here and remember the looks on your faces when you came down. I truly believe you are sorry for this and will help others learn from your mistake as well. You are in our prayers. Keep doing the great work you and your crews do. It is an awesome thing. MISSISSIPPI loves you and you have our full support. Please come back soon now ya hear!!

186. Ty I think that you are very courageous for speaking the truth and that you truly have learned a valuable lesson. I love watching you and will continue to watch you make people lives change for the better. We are human and entitled in this world to make mistakes but the best thing you could ever do is owning up to the truth and knowing you are responsible for whatever you do. Ty I love you and hopefully one day you will read my letter and my dream come true.

187. Ty is a good guy, owning up to it is great but only the first step now he needs to take the punishment ..no more and no less than any other citizen would do.
Paris is making me sick .. why do rich types think they are above "paying" for their crimes? If one of them hit us while driving drunk wouldnt we be just as dead?
Ty will do the right thing cause that is just who he is ... we dont have to tell him.. he knows.

188. Oh for God's sake! Grow up everyone.

Ty, a D.U.I. is hardly a horrible offence. What could have happened is something to think about. The experience is something to learn from.

A jail sentence, even a second offence, is "Not A Life Sentence" In fact the judge may even let you serve time on "weekends"

People forgive an honest man who acknowledges his mistakes, takes responsibility, accepts his debt and then moves on. Jump through the hoops Ty. We'll be here waiting for you to resume your good work.

People make mistakes. Bad things happen to good people sometimes. You'll be alright.
